Fulham fans will hope that last night’s amazing win over Nottingham Forest was the turning point for Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican international took to social media to celebrate his best performance in a Fulham shirt.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, there has been plenty of speculation about whether Fulham will sign another centre-forward.

The likes of Jonas Wind, Santiago Gimenez and Armando Broja have all been linked with a move to Craven Cottage.

Before last night, it was easy to see why with Raul Jimenez, Rodrigo Muniz and Carlos Vinicius having scored just two league goals between them.

However, against Nottingham Forest, Jimenez looked like the player that convinced Fulham to sign him.

He was dropping deep and linking play brilliantly and the connection with Andreas Pereira finally appeared to be developing.

His first goal was fantastic, latching onto the Brazilian’s through ball and dispatching the ball past Odysseas Vlachodimos.

That goal established that his striker’s instincts still existed before his second of the night showed he still could score top-class goals.

The £5.5m forward brought the ball down on the chest, and outmuscled Ola Aina, before rounding the Forest goalkeeper and coolly backheeling the ball into the empty net.

It was a goal that reignited the home crowd’s faith in him and should give him plenty of confidence going forward.

Posting on Instagram after the match, Fulham’s number seven simply said: “What a night.”

A whole host of his Fulham teammates were in the replies with the likes of Carlos Vinicius, Willian and even Liverpool star Diogo Jota suggesting he was on fire.

Left-back Antonee Robinson sent him the one-word reply: “Vamos,” and that’s exactly what Fulham will be hoping Jimenez does after putting Forest to the sword.

While his move from Wolves hasn’t quite worked out as planned just yet, it’s easy to see how popular he is amongst his teammates.

The Mexican was surrounded by all of his teammates after scoring the second goal of the game and it was clear they were delighted he had discovered his shooting boots.

The games are coming thick and fast now in the lead-up to the New Year and it will be interesting to see how many minutes Jimenez is capable of playing.

With Muniz still injured and Carlos Vinicius offering nothing but aggression in his place, Jimenez scoring a fantastic brace couldn’t have come at a better time.
