Fulham now reportedly want to sign Danish international striker Jonas Wind in the upcoming January transfer window.

A report from the Evening Standard shares more details about Fulham’s plans for the winter window.

There are a few key areas in the squad that Marco Silva will be desperate for reinforcements in.

Right now, it appears as though Fulham are the favourites to sign midfielder and Brazilian international Andre.

There will still be scepticism among fans about such a high-profile player arriving at the Cottage until they see him in a Fulham shirt.

However, the prospect of Andre lining up alongside Joao Palhinha – assuming he doesn’t join Bayern Munich – is tantalising right now.

The main position Fulham want to improve in January is up front and Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind is the latest player to be linked with a move.

The 24-year-old is in fine form right now, having scored eight goals in his first 11 Bundesliga appearances this season.

He’s an interesting player, with FBRef suggesting his play style is most similar to Brentford’s Ivan Toney, and can put in a shift defensively.

Whether he’s the ideal man to fill the void left by Aleksandar Mitrovic’s departure is another matter.

Fulham want Wolfsburg striker Wind

The report from the Evening Standard admits that Wind is on the list of several Premier League clubs right now.

He’s also got six goal contributions in his last eight international appearances although Fulham are reportedly still not sure if they want to sign a striker this winter.

Wind has earned some high praise this season, with manager Niko Kovac saying: “He’s the number one striker for us at the moment and probably in the league too.

“He’s hitting everything right now and he’s in a really good mood. You could see that in the preparation. He’s physically fit, very motivated and a leader.”

For Kovac to suggest that Wind is ahead of the likes of Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy – who has also been linked with Fulham – is a big call.

The question now is whether Fulham want to sign Wind desperately enough to pay what’s likely to be a premium in January.

If they’ve already set aside funds to sign Andre, it will be interesting to see how much the Khans are willing to invest to stave off the fears of relegation.

The last thing they need is to try and oversee Fulham escaping the Championship for the fourth time in their tenure.
