Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Manchester United midfielder Fred is still of interest to Fulham and they could make a move later in the summer.
That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, speaking to Give Me Sport about the Brazilian.
Fulham manager Marco Silva has two new signings through the door but will be eyeing plenty more additions.
Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic appears to be on his way out of the club, even if negotiations with Al-Hilal have stalled.
A potential replacement has been signed in the shape of Raul Jimenez but his poor recent scoring record will worry some fans.
The other key player linked with an exit this summer is Joao Palhinha.
Liverpool and West Ham have both been keen on the Portuguese, although he looks less likely to leave.
Instead, Fulham want to add to their midfield this summer and Fred has been identified as a target.
His £20m asking price has proved an issue thus far, especially with interest from Saudi Arabia in the Brazilian.
However, the longer the window goes on, Fulham might think they can get a decent deal for the 30-year-old.
Fulham could still move for Fred this summer
Speaking about the Manchester United man, Sheth said: “There has been interest from Fulham. They couldn’t agree on a fee simply because United were asking for too much money.
“Don’t rule that one out, though, just yet. I think the later you go in the window and the more that United might think, ‘We want to bring in another midfielder’, Fulham might spot that as an opportunity to be able to do a deal on their terms rather than on what Manchester United would want at this stage of the transfer window.”
Fred could become the latest Portuguese speaker to head to Craven Cottage this summer.
He will be able to speak to former teammate Andreas Pereira about making the switch from Old Trafford.
If he could replicate the success of Pereira at Fulham, then Fred would be a very popular signing this summer.
He would create more competition for the likes of Palhinha, Harrison Reed and Sasa Lukic.
That can only be a good thing, especially after a lacklustre performance against a young Chelsea side yesterday.
