Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Fulham are now in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Raul Jimenez as they anticipate the exit of Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared more details on Fulham’s approach for the Mexican international.
Fulham are currently preparing for the first match of their pre-season tour of the United States.
It’s a West London derby taking place on the other side of the Atlantic against Brentford.
However, one player Marco Silva has already confirmed won’t be playing is Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Serbian international has been a key part of Fulham’s success over the past few years.
He broke the Championship goalscoring record in Silva’s first season at the club as Fulham won the title.
However, he’s made it clear that he wants to move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal this summer.
Fulham are having to plan for his exit and are now in talks with Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.
The 32-year-old has established himself as a solid Premier League striker, but his form has dipped in recent seasons.
Fulham now in talks with Jimenez
Posting on Twitter, Romano said: “EXCL: Fulham are in talks to sign Raúl Jiménez. He’s concrete option being considered as new striker.
“Negotiations are taking place, waiting to understand Marco Silva’s decision on Al Ahli proposal.
“Jiménez, in the list also because [Aleksandar] Mitrović wants Al Hilal move.”
Raul Jimenez has 40 Premier League goals to his name, but those numbers don’t tell the whole story.
Jimenez scored 30 goals in his first two seasons, before suffering a horrendous head injury against Arsenal.
Since then, his form has never fully recovered and last season he played 15 times without finding the back of the net in the league.
If Marco Silva can help Jimenez rediscover his best form, then he would be a brilliant signing.
Stylistically, Jimenez is very similar to Mitrovic – they are both powerful target men who are better with their feet than many give them credit.
Fulham being in talks with Jimenez doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be heading to Craven Cottage this summer.
Silva will want to have more options on the table before making a final decision on who should replace Mitrovic.
Unfortunately, Jimenez isn’t going to inspire too much excitement among many Fulham fans as a Mitrovic alternative.
