Fulham turn down bid for 28-year-old star, he’s ‘not for sale’

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham have rejected an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

That’s according to journalist James Benge, with Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic echoing his thoughts.

There are few greater fears for many Fulham fans that the thought of losing Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serbian international has been a huge part of the club’s success over the past few years.

He’s one of just five players to have helped Fulham earn promotion in three different seasons.

Initially signed on loan from Newcastle, the 28-year-old was brilliant under Slavisa Jokanovic and did enough to convince the club to buy him permanently.

His time in the Premier League has been mixed, but more due to a lack of faith shown by his managers than because of his ability.

Mitrovic had an unbelievable record-breaking season when Fulham won the Championship and managed 12 Premier League goals last campaign.

It’s no surprise that a bid for Mitrovic was rejected by Fulham ahead of the start of next season.

Few strikers in world football can do what the fantastic Serb does.

His presence was greatly missed last season when unavailable due to injury or suspension.

Mitrovic bid rejected by Fulham

Posting on Twitter, Benge said: “Fulham immediately rejected Al Hilal’s £25.5m bid for Aleksandar Mitrovic, I’m told. The club insist he is not for sale.”

Fabrizio Romano shared a similar sentiment, adding: “Al Hilal have submitted formal bid to sign Aleksandar Mitrović

“Fulham have no intention to accept €30m [£25.6m] fee, Al Hilal will insist.

“Mitrović, among top targets after [Romelu] Lukaku’s decision to reject Saudi side 20 days ago.”

The Athletic have added that Mitrovic is open to a move to Saudi Arabia as long as an agreement is reached between the two clubs.

They also say that Fulham insist he’s not for sale and it seems unlikely given his relationship with the club that he’ll force a sale.

It’s no surprise that Fulham have rejected an opening bid for Mitrovic given his importance to the team.

Carlos Vinicius isn’t up to the same standard and it’s too early in his career to expect Jay Stansfield to step up in his place.

Fulham’s recruitment team will now be working extremely hard to identify a potential replacement in case the club receive an offer that’s too good to refuse.

The club, meanwhile, are still waiting to see if Willian will extend his time at the club after rejecting an initial contract offer.
