Fulham in pole position to sign 29-year-old defender they were keen on in January

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham now want to sign FC Twente defender Joshua Brenet and are reportedly in pole position to get their man.

A report from the Dutch publication 1908.nl has shared more details on the 29-year-old’s future.

Fulham have once again been slow to get off the mark in the transfer window.

As we enter July, Marco Silva’s squad is shrinking rather than growing right now.

Both Willian and Neeskens Kebano have rejected contract offers and remain free agents.

Winger Manor Solomon is now on the verge of joining Tottenham after his loan spell at Craven Cottage ended.

It’s now looking even more concerning that Fulham cancelled a permanent deal to sign Solomon in favour of a loan last summer.

Cedric Soares has also returned to Arsenal and Kevin Mbabu appears to have no part to play at Fulham after a disastrous move 12 months ago.

Fulham now want to sign Joshua Brenet to act as competition for Kenny Tete.

The two-time Dutch international is wanted by several clubs across Europe.

After being linked with Fulham in January, he could finally end up in the Premier League.

Fulham want Dutch defender Brenet

The report from 1908.nl states that Fulham face competition from Feyenoord, Fenerbahce and Besiktas for Brenet.

However, Fulham are currently ‘on the winning end’ of signing Brenet.

They go on to say that the player has yet to make his mind up on where he wants to play next season and is assessing his options.

After last season, it’s hard to see any defender coming in and replacing Kenny Tete.

Although the likes of Joao Palhinha, Willian and Bernd Leno stole the headlines, Tete was sensational last season.

Full-back is arguably one of the most difficult positions to play in the Premier League.

Expected to bomb forward and contribute to attacks while also dealing with some of the most talented attackers in world football.

Tete performed brilliantly and now Fulham want fellow countryman Brenet to provide competition for him next season.

The 29-year-old had an outstanding in the Eredivisie, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

Defensively, he wasn’t one of the best players in the league, but in possession he was fantastic.

In Tete, he would have a teammate who looks comfortable both attacking and defending.
