Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Fulham are pushing to sign Fiorentina defender Igor Julio this summer.
That’s according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who provides an update on Fulham’s plans as the transfer window opens.
Fulham have never been a team to get their business done early in the summer.
More often than not their one of the most active teams on deadline day in England.
However, they will already know that a centre-back is on the agenda before the season starts.
An update from Fabrizio Romano today suggests that Tosin Adarabioyo wants to leave this summer.
He’s only got one year left on his contract after Fulham triggered an extension in January.
His game time had diminished since Issa Diop arrived last year from West Ham.
Marco Silva will be keen to bring in his replacement as quickly as possible, especially since Tim Ream ended the campaign with a serious injury.
He’s expected to be fit in time for pre-season, but Silva won’t want to push him unless he absolutely has to.
Therefore, Fulham are now pushing to sign Fiorentina defender Igor Julio in the coming weeks.
He, like Tosin, only has a year left on his contract, although the Italian club can trigger an extension if they wish.
Fulham pushing to sign Igor
The report simply states that the 25-year-old is being targeted by Fulham and gives more details on his contract situation.
Igor made 27 appearances in Serie A this season as they finished in 8th place, narrowly missing out on Europe.
However, they made it all the way to the Europa Conference League final and saw that as a potential route into the Europa League.
Unfortunately, they lost to West Ham after a last-minute Jarrod Bowen goal, with Igor coming on just minutes beforehand.
Fulham are pushing to sign Igor but this isn’t the first time they’ve looked for a Brazilian centre-back from Serie A.
Two years ago, they tried to sign Gleison Bremer but ultimately missed out.
He ended up being named in their World Cup squad last year ahead of the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes.
Igor excels as a tackler and defends well in his own box, while also being comfortable on the ball, which is a key attribute for a defender in Marco Silva’s system.
Fulham may have to act this summer to avoid missing out on another player like Bremer.
