Fulham are among several clubs keen on a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja but only want to sign the 22-year-old on loan.

Marco Silva hasn’t seen a single new player arrive during the January transfer window despite the obvious need to improve the squad.

Posting on social media, journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on the club’s pursuit of Armando Broja.

Fulham are currently preparing for their biggest game of the season after a short mid-season break.

Following on from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, the squad were given some time off and should be fully rested before Wednesday’s huge Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Silva might have hoped he would potentially have one or two new players to choose from ahead of the game.

Losing a trio of players to the African Cup of Nations has done Fulham’s hopes no good although Liverpool will at least be without Mohamed Salah.

Armando Broja would have been cup-tied for Wednesday’s match, but Fulham are now considering a loan move for the forward.

Chelsea initially put a £50m price tag on the Albanian but that number appears to have come down already.

Fulham eyeing loan move for Broja

Posting on social media, Jacobs said: “Chelsea willing to listen to offers for Armando Broja this week. Wolves and Fulham both prefer a loan.

“West Ham and Aston Villa can’t be discounted. Still understand £35m+ is the number Chelsea will consider. Not easy to get a sale this window.”

Fulham may not have much money to play with in January to make new signings due to profit and sustainability rules.

It means that they have to make the most of the two domestic loan slots they have in the squad.

A loan for Broja would make sense for Fulham and would avoid committing a huge fee for a player who has yet to prove themselves completely in the Premier League.

The Whites do need to sign a younger striker sooner rather than later as Raul Jimenez doesn’t have a huge amount of time left playing at the very top.

Whether Broja is that man is another matter and based on how many other Premier League sides want him, Silva should be looking at alternatives already before next week’s deadline.
