With the January transfer window fast approaching, Fulham are now monitoring Mexican international Fernando Beltran who could be available on a free transfer.

A report from 90min has suggested that Marco Silva’s side are one of several English clubs looking at the 25-year-old.

The January transfer window could be a very important one for Fulham and Marco Silva.

The club are currently 14th in the Premier League but are looking over their shoulder as opposed to up the table.

Much of that comes down to a lack of a recognised goalscorer, although the rumours are beginning to appear over strikers linked with a move to Craven Cottage.

However, Marco Silva will be keen on trying to improve his entire squad if the right opportunities arise.

Brazilian star Andre has been closely linked with a move to West London but nothing is over the line yet.

Fulham are now monitoring Fernando ‘Nene’ Beltran and he could be available on a free transfer next month.

He’s a ball-playing midfielder with an eye for scoring ‘spectacular’ goals according to the Mexican media.

Only last week, the 10-capped Mexican international scored a screamer against Pumas UNAM to earn his side three points.

Now, he could soon be preparing for life on the other side of the Atlantic.

Fulham closely monitoring Beltran

The report from 90min suggests that Fulham are among plenty of European teams considering a move for Beltran.

Dutch giants Ajax and Feyenoord are looking at the 25-year-old, alongside Wolves and Championship leaders Leicester City.

They believe that his contract runs out at the end of the month and he has no plans to renew, which would be a surprise given that’s midway through the Mexican domestic campaign.

Beltran is an outstanding passer and dribbler and is a fantastic player in transition.

The key for Silva is whether or not he’s going to be signing a midfielder to play alongside Joao Palhinha or if he’s going to need a replacement.

If the Portuguese star does depart, then Beltran is not the man to replace him. He’s very passive off the ball and although he’s not the worst tackler, he’s very much a forward-thinking player.

Fulham monitoring Beltran makes sense as he’s not the sort of player that they’ll be rushing to sign given the lack of clarity over Palhinha’s future.

However, should the 28-year-old stick around, he could be a fantastic partner for Beltran should Andre not arrive from Fluminense.
