Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
After a flurry of contract renewals at Fulham in recent weeks, defender Kenny Tete could be the latest player to put pen to paper.
A report from The Athletic has shared more details about the state of Marco Silva’s squad.
After a huge amount of speculation surrounding his future, Joao Palhinha ended up staying at Craven Cottage.
Bayern Munich were desperate to sign him and despite arriving in Germany, he never made the switch.
To the surprise of virtually every Fulham, it was announced that he had signed a contract extension at the club.
Alongside Harrison Reed, Fulham’s first-choice midfield pair gave the club a huge boost by signing new contracts.
A flurry of youngsters including Matt Dibley-Dias and Jay Stansfield have also committed their futures to the club.
Fulham have now reportedly held contract talks with Kenny Tete with his current deal expiring next summer.
The ‘amazing’ full-back is one of the most important players in Fulham’s squad and criminally underrated by fans outside of West London.
Fulham defender Tete has held talks over new contract
The report from The Athletic states that ‘there are fewer contract situations of concern, with Antonee Robinson, Reed and Palhinha all extending their deals, while Kenny Tete is thought to have had contract discussions.’
Kenny Tete was signed when Fulham returned to the Premier League for the second time under the Khans.
Injuries disrupted his first two seasons at the club but his quality shone through when he did play.
He’s also one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league and he’s thwarted some of the best wingers in world football over the past few seasons.
Last season, Tete provided five assists – the most in his career – while also scoring against Manchester United in the final game of last season.
Marco Silva has struggled to find full-backs that really suit his system, although Timothy Castagne might finally solve that issue.
Tete and Antonee Robinson have been fantastic but the club have failed to sign a backup that can live up to their standards.
It’s no surprise that Fulham are considering giving Tete a new contract given how well he’s played since arriving at Craven Cottage.
The £3m Fulham paid for Tete to Lyon in 2020 has proved to be an incredible bargain.
