Fulham make concrete offer for £12.8m midfielder, but he wants Bundesliga move

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham have reportedly made a concrete offer for Young Boys attacking midfielder Fabian Rieder.

A report from Bild suggests that London rival Brentford are also keen on the 21-year-old Swiss player.

Fulham’s pre-season preparations are well underway although Marco Silva would have wanted more work to be done on his playing squad.

Securing Willian’s future this summer has been a big plus, while Raul Jimenez was introduced to the Fulham fans yesterday.

The Mexican striker signed from Wolves after an underwhelming season at Molineux.

He didn’t score a single league goal in 15 appearances and his form hasn’t been at his best since suffering a serious injury against Arsenal in 2020.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic’s future very much in doubt, Silva could hand Jimenez the chance to rediscover that form as Fulham’s first-choice forward.

He will need support in attack and Fulham have made an offer for Fabian Rieder to potentially provide those chances.

The 21-year-old scored seven times and provided four assists last season as Young Boys went on to win the Swiss Super League.

Fulham make offer for Rieder

The Whites are keen on the Swiss Under-21 international but face several stumbling blocks.

Brentford’s interest is frustrating but Rieder currently has his heart set on a move to the Bundesliga.

Bild report that Reider is keen to join Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

The £12.8m-rated playmaker wants to make the switch to Germany but so far his asking price hasn’t been met.

Fulham would be more than capable of making an offer that matches that number if they were desperate to sign Rieder.

However, with Andreas Pereira already in training and Tom Cairney still a part of the squad, it’s not a position that Fulham should be considering as a priority.

There’s also young Luke Harris to consider who could make a bigger impact on the first team this season after regularly being selected in Silva’s matchday squads.

Fulham do appear to be keen on making attacking reinforcements with Callum Hudson-Odoi also being targeted.

With Calvin Bassey potentially joining very soon, Fulham are slowly getting their team ready for next season.

Rieder would be a good option to have, but shouldn’t be the next player the club chase to try and match last season’s brilliant 10th-place finish.
