Van der Vaart sends warning to Fulham over Bassey
Speaking on Dutch programme De Oranjezomer, Van der Vaart was asked about Bassey’s potential move to Fulham and said: “I just drove up here in the golf cart. I would take him away myself with that tonight.”
Bassey played for Ajax on Tuesday against Shakhtar Donetsk and came off the bench in a 3-0 win.
However, Van der Vaart wasn’t happy with an error Bassey made in that game and seems very keen for Fulham to take him off Ajax’s hands.
Bassey has progressed quickly in his career, going from Leicester’s academy to the Champions League in just a few years.
His performances for Rangers were always strong and he didn’t do too badly during his first campaign in the Eredivisie.
Ajax as a whole struggled after losing Erik ten Hag and blaming Bassey for those issues feels harsh.
Marco Silva has a knack of getting the best out of young players and clearly sees some potential in the Nigerian.
