Fulham want to sign £21.5m defender who suffered relegation last season

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham now want to sign relegated full-back Timothy Castagne from Leicester City this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Athletic as Fulham continue to search for their first new signing of the summer.

The club finally announced an incoming player last night, but it was a very familiar face.

After weeks of contract negotiations, Wilian returned to the club on a one-year deal.

Although it technically counts as a new signing as his previous deal expired, Fulham fans are still waiting for the first new player to arrive.

One area that needs addressing this summer is right-back.

Antonee Robinson signed a new deal suggesting the left-back role is secured for a while now.

However, on the right, Kenny Tete may need some competition.

Kevin Mbabu has returned from his loan spell at FC Servette but his future is unclear right now.

Cedric Soares returned to Arsenal after he struggled to break into the team in the second half of the last campaign.

Fulham now want to sign Timothy Castagne from Leicester to provide that much-needed competition.

In a side that struggled defensively last season, Castagne was one of the standout performers.

The Belgian international would be a quality signing for Fulham this summer.

Fulham want Leicester star Castagne

The report from The Athletic suggests Castagne is open to a return to the Premier League, although Fulham aren’t the only interested club.

Initially bought by Leicester for £21.5m, Castagne is capable of playing on either flank.

Having that sort of versatility will appeal to Marco Silva, especially as Laywin Kurzawa has now returned to PSG.

At 27, the Belgian international should be playing at his peak right now.

He played more league minutes last year than during any other season in his career.

Fulham may want Castagne as he’s shown he can play every week, something Kenny Tete has occasionally struggled with.

The pair would be ideal competition for each other and Castagne would improve the overall quality of the squad.
