Fulham were looking at re-signing £25m player, but now there's a problem

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Ryan Sessegnon was being eyed up for a return to Fulham before picking up an injury at Tottenham.

That is according to The Standard who state that the left-footer was wanted by the Whites before picking up a serious issue.

Fulham fans will remember Sessegnon well from his time at Craven Cottage. Arguably the best young player the club has ever had, Sessegnon swept the EFL awards back in 2018, before eventually being sold to Tottenham for £25m.

Sadly, ever since joining Spurs, Sessegnon’s career has gone in one direction – down.

Indeed, he’s been pivoted back to playing as a full-back, despite scoring 17 league goals during his best season at Fulham, and injury issues have plagued him throughout his Spurs career so far.

In all honesty, it wouldn’t have been surprising to see Sessegnon sold this summer, but now, this injury appears to have thrown the brakes on any potential move for the 23-year-old.

Right now, Sessegnon’s future is up in the air. He will remain at Tottenham throughout his recovery from injury, but what comes next remains to be seen.

Ange Postecoglou may well want to take one final look at him once he’s back fit, but half the battle with Sessegnon has been figuring out his best position as he’s never really taken to life as a left-back at Tottenham.

Fulham fans will attest to the fact that Sessegnon has the ability to be a fantastic winger due to his pace and finishing ability, but it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen him used in that position.

Who knows? Perhaps this is one Fulham could revisit in January, but, right now, Marco Silva’s side need to focus on getting players through the door this summer as we’re still waiting on that first signing of the window.
