Fulham offered chance to sign 20-year-old known for ‘worst miss of all time’

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham have been offered the chance to sign Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx this summer.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who provides more details on the youngster’s future.

Belgium’s golden generation may be coming to an end, but the next group of players are already getting ready to take their place.

The likes of Arthur Theate, Amadou Onana and Jeremy Doku look set to have big futures in Europe’s top leagues.

Another name who could join that list is Aster Vranckx.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for the Red Devils against Austria a few days ago.

He’s now set to join up and captain the under-21 squad at the European Championships starting this week.

He was on loan at AC Milan last season, although the move didn’t work out and he managed just nine league appearances.

Vranckx has now been offered by his parent club Wolfsburg to Fulham and Crystal Palace as they deem him surplus to requirements.

After a promising start to his career at Mechelen in his homeland, he needs to find a club willing to support his development going forward.

Talking about the youngster’s future, Tavolieri said: “Barring any surprises linked to his performances at the Euros, the captain of the U21 Red Devils – Aster Vranckx – is set to be sold by Wolfsburg this summer.

“The preferred option is the Premier League, where his profile has been presented to Fulham FC and Crystal Palace, among others. Stay tuned.”

Vranckx isn’t a household name in England, but some football fans may recognise him.

As a teenager, he was responsible for what was claimed at the time to be the ‘worst miss of all time’.

Vranckx was just a few feet from an open goal when the ball ricocheted to him.

Instead of tapping it in, he stood on the ball before it bounced off the post and went wide.

Vranckx has since scored seven league goals in his career but isn’t in the team for his finishing ability.

He’s a hard-working box-to-box midfield with a serious engine and the ability to read the game well.

Vranckx is a good tackler, likes to shoot when in attacking areas and has excellent control in tight areas.

There are similarities to both Joao Palhinha and Harrison Reed, although unsurprisingly he’s not quite as good a defender as the Portuguese.

Palhinha has been linked with a move away from Fulham this summer, which might be why the club have been offered Vranckx.

The Belgian would be a solid backup option to start with, but he isn’t quite ready to step straight into a Premier League side.
