Fulham have now offered a new contract to Willian after a fantastic first season at Craven Cottage.
The report from The Athletic shares more details about the Brazilian’s potential new deal.
Few would have expected the 34-year-old to make the impact he did when he signed last summer.
His contract at Corinthians was terminated by mutual consent after a tough return to Brazil.
He was getting threats on social media and vowed never to play in Brazil again.
Willian was offered a one-year contract at Fulham after a successful trial period during pre-season.
The Brazilian international made his debut against Tottenham, before providing his first assist in the following game against Nottingham Forest.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal man quickly sprung into life at Craven Cottage and become a fan favourite.
His brilliant set-pieces deliveries and finishes from outside the box were complimented by his phenomenal work-rate.
It’s no wonder that Fulham are working to extend his stay at the club.
Fulham offer Willian new contract
The report from The Athletic suggests the club have offered Willian a new one-year deal with an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
It’s been offered with similar terms to his previous deal, although Willian is currenly considering his future given he’s now technically a free agent.
Marco Silva is a huge fan of Willian and will be desperate to keep him.
After his goal in the reverse fixture against Nottingham Forest, he said: “About Willian, I will repeat the same thing: he is a top class player and a great guy. He keeps playing with a smile on his face and keeps working hard every single day on the training ground.
“I know that he wants more and he knows that he always has myself behind him to demand from him and give him all the confidence for him to keep showing his quality.”
It would be an incredibly popular decision if Fulham did manage to convince Willian to sign a new contract.
Although he’s not got a long-term future at the club ahead of him, his quality would be incredibly difficult to replace.
He appears to have brilliant camaraderie with the other Portuguese-speaking players in the squad.
These might all be things he’s considering before putting pen to paper this summer.
