‘Fulham wanted him’: Journalist says Fulham wanted ‘special’ Liverpool player on loan this season

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Fulham wanted Fabio Carvalho back on loan this season.

That is according to Dean Jones who was speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras podcast about the midfielder’s poor start to life at Liverpool.

As we all know, Carvalho ditched Fulham last summer, refusing to sign a new contract in order to head to Anfield.

The youngster left Craven Cottage with the firm belief that the grass was greener, but after a year of barely playing at Anfield, he may well be regretting that decision.

Liverpool have barely used Carvalho since the turn of the year, and to make matters even worse, they refused to loan him out too, even though Fulham, and numerous other clubs, apparently wanted him.

Fulham wanted Carvalho return

Jones shared what he knows about the ‘special’ Liverpool player.

“Look Carvalho should never have been judged on last season, Liverpool weren’t willing to loan him back out, Fulham wanted him to, other clubs wanted the chance to sign him too, but Liverpool tried to integrate him to see what they could do with him. There have been reports that Liverpool are going to try to move him on, but I don’t believe that’s the case in terms of a sale,” Jones said.

Shouldn’t have left

One year on from Carvalho leaving Fulham it’s fair to say that he probably should never have left the club.

He had a great mentor in Marco Silva, a system that played to his strengths and a fanbase that absolutely adored him.

He gave that up to join what is, granted, a much bigger team but a team that was going through a transitional period that plays a system that doesn’t suit him and a fanbase that, while brilliant, are very demanding.

Carvalho should’ve remained at Fulham and made his big move a few more years down the line.
