SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
Speaking on the ITV Football Podcast, Andros Townsend has claimed that Scott Parker may consider leaving Fulham amid rumours he’s being considered for the Tottenham job and the England U21s job.
Townsend of course knows Parker very well from their time together at Tottenham, and while their former club is currently without a manager, the Crystal Palace man believes he should consider jumping ship.
Townsend says that the Championship is a difficult division and if the Whites didn’t bounce straight back it would be a hit to his reputation.
“I’d like to see him stay. I think that if he got Fulham back into the Premier League, he’d do things differently. I think the second-half of the season, they were a lot better than they were in the first-half and they’d fare a lot better if they did come up again, but it’s a big if, the Championship is not an easy league, so he may feel that it’s not worth the risk of ruining his reputation and he may seek an immediate Premier League return,” Townsend said.
As much as we hate to say it, Townsend is right.
For some reason, despite the fact he’s just been relegated Scott Parker’s stock has never been higher as a manager, and he’s being linked with two very high-profile jobs.
A lot of Fulham fans would love to see Parker stay, but put yourself in his shoes. Fulham are a bit of a mess off the pitch at the moment, while the Spurs job would provide him with a brilliant platform to really establish himself as a manager.
If Tottenham come knocking, Parker will have a massive decision to make.
