Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Leeds’ game against Burnley, Marcelo Bielsa has given his view on Scott Parker and Fulham’s relegation.

The Argentine is clearly a fan of Parker, waxing-lyrical about him a number of times in the past, and while Fulham have gone down this season, Bielsa is clearly a fan of the way the Whites have been playing.

“Fulham is a team who produced moments of very good football throughout parts of the campaign.” Bielsa said.

“The style that the manager proposed is a very daring way to try and play. They had the difficulty to consolidate the team only until a quarter of the season had gone past and in the close of the season they didn’t obtain the results that they deserved and this is definitive for the team at the end of the season.

“The close of the season was negative but there were games prior to those six or seven games that they deserved to win. Had they obtained what they deserved it would have lifted the mood of the team.”

Sadly, Bielsa is right.

Fulham have implemented a style that is easy on the eye, and based solely on performances the Cottagers probably deserved to stay up.

Sadly, the Whites’ finishing deserted them  at crucial times of the season and a poor run of results towards the end of the campaign left them cut adrift in the relegation zone.

However, Bielsa’s comments do make one thing clear, Parker may be the right man to guide the Whites back out of the Championship at the first time of asking.
