SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
According to EuroSport, Fulham intend to exercise their option to buy Alphonse Areola if they stay in the Premier League this season.
It’s fair to say that the France international has been pivotal in Fulham’s season so far, and while the season is far from over, the PSG loanee has clearly done enough to impress in recent weeks.
The glovesman has been a key component in Fulham’s incredible defensive transformation in recent months, and after keeping five clean sheets in his last seven league appearances, the Whites are now level on points with Brighton.
Fulham have a number of loanees who they will surely be looking at signing at the end of the season, but it seems as though the one they’re most keen on keeping is Areola.
The Whites have a lot of depth in the goalkeeper spot with Marek Rodak and Marcus Bettinelli still on the books, but if Areola is signed permanently, you’d have to imagine that Bettinelli’s long-term future at the club is at risk.
Areola staying would be a huge boost. Fulham know as well as any club that the key to being successful in the Premier League is building from the back, and the goalkeeper is an important component of that.
The Whites have always had reliable stoppers in their most successful periods with the likes of Mark Schwarzer and Edwin van Der Sar acting as two of the most reliable custodians in the club’s history in the last two decades.
